SFCU Security Update: Multi-Factor Authentication

Dear Member,

The University of Pennsylvania Students Federal Credit Union is excited to announce a new security update to our online and mobile banking services, provided by BankJoy. Starting August 20, 2025, SFCU will require all online banking users to log in using multi-factor authentication (MFA).

What This Means

Under MFA, members will need to authenticate logins beyond usernames and passwords by providing a unique auto-generated security code sent to the email or phone number (via text) listed on their SFCU account.

The first time this is done, you may optionally check “Remember Device” to avoid being challenged again on the same browser and device. However, authentication will still be required if:

Who Is Affected?

Only members who use or intend to use online or mobile banking will be affected. Members who do not use online banking or who call SFCU’s office for account information will not be subject to MFA requirements.
